…Then reality set in

It’s not every day that you have a conversation that shifts how you view the past.

I just got off the phone with my mom.

The conversation we had was one of those. The exact nature of the conversation does not need to be revealed here, but it was definitely one of those.

So, now, and even as we spoke, all these thoughts of “what if'” and “so that explains” swirl around my brain.

I find myself a little wiser, perhaps, definitely more aware of certain events and stories.

Perhaps it wasn’t all bitterness on the part of the one. Perhaps it wasn’t all memory on the part of the other.

The past does not change with this new knowledge, but it makes more sense.

For better or worse…
