Weird Japanese Things #2

The second thing in my new series of Weird Japanese things is this.

Watering KissMintThis, for those of you who can’t tell, is “Watering KissMint.”

It’s gum, chewing gum.

The Japanese under the title gives the flavor: “Muscat Mint.”  Muscat, in case you don’t know (I didn’t, before I came to Japan), are green grapes.

Thus, what we have here is green grape and mint flavored chewing gum.

It’s actually very good, and this brand comes in other flavors, including peach-mint and blackberry-mint.

We’ve had the peach, and it’s good too.

So, the question you should be asking is, “Why is it called “Watering Kiss Mint?”

Any guesses?

Well, it makes your mouth water.

A lot.

Think borderline drooling.

And that’s today’s weird Japanese thing!

  1. […] full story here […]

  2. it’s true…crazy salivation going on lol :P….

  3. Hrrrm. I don’t know what to say about a gum that makes you drool. The closest that I know here that has that effect is Gatorade gum, which I guess stimulates saliva in an effort to rehydrate the body (though why you’d be playing sports and chewing gun is beyond me)

  4. remember the soap gum…? we used to have contests. yuk

  5. Ohhhh I do lol man that stuff was awful but we chewed it anyway…

  6. And you know… if anyone just wandered in and read Amanda’s last comment by itself it would open up whole new realms of odd conversation. (Yeah I’m THAT odd).
